In cytamphology, each organ is considered to be a carrier of a functional microbiota: a subtle and informational environment that participates in its internal balance. Bacteria that populate the vagina are poorly known. Yet this vaginal or vaginal flora microbiot is all the microorganisms that protect and limit infections.

This microbiot is normally stable but a change in its composition can cause vaginosis, mycosis or cystitis.
