In cytamphology, each organ is considered to be a carrier of a functional microbiota: a subtle and informational environment that participates in its internal balance. The cutaneous microbiota or "microflora" is the set of this bacterial biodiversity which maintains the skin immune system and is a protection of the skin against any possible inflammations.

It is estimated at more than 100,000 bacteria by CM2 skin. This skin ecosystem is organized in biofilm that varies by individuals, age, sex, activities and behaviors, the environment (pollution ...). These microorganisms participate in the appearance of bodily odors.

In case of imbalance of this biofilm, by injury, cut, burn, contact with toxic products, use of cosmetics, wearing mask ..., skin disorders can occur. 304 is a regulator of this flora.
